About the Founder
Nii Atukwei Quaye
Founder of African Centred Tutoring (ACT)
My name is Chris-Jude Nii Atukwei Quaye, creator and founder of African Centred Tutoring. African Centred Tutoring is an online tutoring service which infuses African Centred History and African Centred information into the learning experience for people of African heritage. At African Centred Tutoring we create alternative and innovative approaches to learning, relevant for the 21st Century African person
When I set out on this journey over 10 years ago, I wanted to create a company that reflected the world in my favour. I wanted to create a service and products which were both culturally sensitive and necessary for the 21st Century African. I had and still have deep concerns about the global industrial education system, simply because it only works for a few people. A change was needed, and I began to understand that that change had to come from me. Looking back now I realise that I needed an education that truly served my needs and not just the needs of my employers. I needed an education which helped me to maximise my potential, and ultimately, I needed an education which was liberating.
Liberation came in the form of exposure to African Centred History and African Centred Information. I had never in my life been this magnetised to information about Africa, education, history, politics, health, wealth, culture and society. I can truly say that African History and African Centred Information re-shaped my perspective, gave me a renewed sense of self and provided a newfound hope for the future. It was transformational psychotherapy, healing soul food and a pragmatic ushering into the world as it really was and not as others would have me believe. I would even go as far as saying it engendered within me a renewing of my spirit. I was ‘born’ again and was beginning to see the world with fresh eyes. I simply could not get enough. It gave me purpose and drive to create a new reality and a new future for myself and family. It has taught me that I am responsible for my behaviour by taking control of my thoughts, speech, and actions.
Why BAO-BAB?
The BAO-BAB Framework brings you back to your roots. It reconnects your mind, awakens your spirit, and activates your purpose. Inspired by the ancient Baobab tree, Africa’s original university. It teaches through the language of the subconscious: symbols, stories, patterns, and ancestral memory.
The Baobab is Africa’s Original University
It holds water - sustaining life in dry seasons.
It holds wisdom - passed through generations.
It holds community - sheltering all who gather beneath it.
It stands through storms - a symbol of endurance.
It remembers what others forget - a living archive of our past.
It is also a pathway home:
To your clarity, when the world feels uncertain.
To your truth, when voices around you conflict.
To your inner leadership, when you’re called to rise.
To the self you were always meant to become.
